Accessible Heritage Trail launched in Girvan

The Girvan Town Team recently launched an accessible heritage trail that takes in key points of interest along Girvan promenade and the harbour area. There are currently 5 lecterns with information boards along the trail, with another due to be installed on the promenade in the near future.

The new boards feature a mixture of images, information and history, revealing some of Girvan’s stories, past and present. We’re sure they will be of interest to locals and visitors wanting to find out more about the town.

The trail route has been designed to be accessible and the distance between the first and final lectern is approximately 0.7 mile. The information boards can be found at the harbour viewing platform, the boating pond, the beach car park, Stair Park and the bandstand.

The project was made possible thanks to funding from the Coastal Communties Fund. The ornate nature-themed lecterns were designed by David Ogilvie Engineering and installed with support from South Ayrshire Council. The Trustees of Girvan Town Team led the project with ongoing support from our community partners, Go Girvan and Girvan Community Council.

We hope lots of people will enjoy exploring the trail, taking in the beautiful seaside scenery and learning more about Girvan along the way.
