Building Community Through Football

Girvan Town Team, in partnership with the National Lottery Community Fund, is making a big difference in local sports by distributing £500 grants to deserving organisations. Two recent beneficiaries, Girvan Youth FC and Girvan FC Walking Football, are using these funds to create opportunities for connection, teach life skills, and enhance wellbeing.

Supporting Girvan Youth FC: A Place to Grow

Girvan Youth FC put their £500 grant toward the £1,500 cost of a new gazebo that is already making an impact. This versatile shelter provides young players with a place to stay together during tournaments, shielding them from the elements while fostering a sense of unity. It’s also used at local community events to raise funds for the club, helping sustain their football seasons. Getting involved in fundraising helps teach young players the importance of commitment, teamwork, and volunteering in the community, building life skills that extend beyond the pitch.

Enhancing Girvan FC Walking Football: A Home for Connection

Girvan FC Walking Football has also benefited from a £500 grant, which was used to create a dedicated post-game space. Members now enjoy hot showers and a cosy area to relax with tea, coffee, and biscuits. This addition has transformed the club experience by encouraging social interaction, creating a stronger sense of community, and supporting members’ physical and mental wellbeing.

These initiatives demonstrate how the National Lottery Community Fund distributed by the Girvan Town Team is helping local organisations make a meaningful impact.
