Successful Paint ‘n’ Patter Sessions to Expand in 2025

The Paint ‘n’ Patter Open Studio has blossomed into a vibrant community hub with the help of £250 in funding from Girvan Town Team. This support enabled the group to purchase essential art supplies and deliver a series of six engaging taster workshops, helping to foster creativity, confidence, and connection in Girvan and the surrounding area.

Weekly Sessions: Opening Doors to Creativity

With the new painting materials, Paint ‘n’ Patter ensures everyone has the opportunity to participate and experiment with various media and techniques, sparking their creative journeys. The group meets every Thursday from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Growing to over 20 participants, attendees can drop in at their convenience, enjoy a cup of tea, and explore their creativity through art.

Monthly Workshops: Exploring New Skills

In addition to weekly sessions, Paint ‘n’ Patter ran six taster workshops in 2024, introducing participants to a variety of artistic techniques:

• Colour Theory and Starter Kits

• Expressive Mark Making

• Decoupage and Glass Painting

• Creative Collage

• Printing Techniques with Monoprints and Geli Plates

• A recap session tying everything together

These workshops reached 45 participants, helping them develop new skills, nurture creativity, and build confidence. One member even co-facilitated workshops, gaining valuable experience to advance her professional artist portfolio.

Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% of participants saying they learned something new, felt more confident, and wanted more sessions. Comments included:

Looking Ahead

Building on the success of the workshops, Paint ‘n’ Patter will launch a weekly evening open studio session on Mondays between 6 PM and 9 PM commencing 3rd February 2025, complementing the Thursday gatherings. This expansion aims to reach even more members of the community, providing a space to connect, create, and grow.
