Launch of the new Girvan Business Association
On Wednesday 6th September 2023, The Girvan Town Team held a public meeting to propose the launch of a new Business Association in Girvan. Representatives from over 20 local organistions attended the meeting and there was general agreement that a business association would be a positive step forward in the regeneration of the town.
An open discussion was held and a consensus reached about the core purpose of the Association, namely it would work as -
1. A pressure group on behalf of local businesses.
2. A forum to agree common ground.
3. A networking group providing referrals to other members
The meeting was chaired by John McCreath, a Girvan Town Team Trustee, who stated “It was a very positive start and the enthusiasm to form a Business Association in Girvan was very clear. The next steps will include engaging with key stakeholders such as South Ayrshire Council to agree what we need to do together to make Girvan the best it can be.”
It was proposed that a second meeting will be held in December. Prior to the next meeting, Roddy MacDonald, Girvan Town Team Coordinator and Business Association Secretary, will follow up on actions raised at the launch.
